Punjab Police Bust International Drug Racket; 60 Kg Heroin Seized, 9 Held
Stating that with this an international drug syndicate involved in trans-border drug trafficking has been dismantled, director general of police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav said on X that this drug cartel was operated by Pakistan-based smuggler Tanveer Shah and Canada-based handler Joban Kaler.

Chandigarh: Punjab police on Monday claimed to have busted in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) and Rajasthan police, an international drug racket has seized over 60 kg heroin and arrested nine accused including a woman.
Stating that with this an international drug syndicate involved in trans-border drug trafficking has been dismantled, director general of police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav said on X that this drug cartel was operated by Pakistan-based smuggler Tanveer Shah and Canada-based handler Joban Kaler.

DGP Yadav further said that the police has recovered over 60.302 kg heroin from near the international border in Barmer, Rajasthan and the nine accused were nabbed from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir.
They were identified as Gursahib Singh, Jashanpreet Singh Kulwinder Singh, Parshotam Singh, Gagandeep Singh and Rajinder Kaur, all residents of Amritsar district. DGP Yadav further said that the accused include smugglers and hawala racketeers. Stating that further investigation is in progress and more arrests are likely.
