Mann slammed BJP and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 2015 Pakistan visit and said that Indian and Pakistan’s Punjab provinces had a shared culture, same language and wondered while sometimes Diljit is called a ``gaddar’’ (a traitor) for having a Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the film, other times he is called a ``sardar’’ (a leader).

Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday defended singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s horror-comedy film ``Sardaar Ji 3’’ citing a shared culture of India and Pakistan’s Punjab provinces.
Speaking during the second day of the ongoing special session of state assembly, Mann slammed BJP and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 2015 Pakistan visit and said that Indian and Pakistan’s Punjab provinces had a shared culture, same language and wondered while sometimes Diljit is called a ``gaddar’’ (a traitor) for having a Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the film, other times he is called a ``sardar’’ (a leader).

He said that the film was shot before the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack after which the tension between India and Pakistan peaked and resulted in Op Sindoor.
Stating that no one could ``issue certificates of patriotism’’, Mann said he had a message for the country that without Punjab and Haryana, no one could eat as the two states accounted for 70% of the country’s food-grain production.
