Pro-Khalistan Slogans Surface In Amritsar Ahead Of Independence Day; SFJ Claims Responsibility

Chandigarh: Pro-Khalistan slogans were found spray-painted on the boundary walls of a temple and the Khalsa College in Amritsar on Thursday, days ahead of the upcoming Independence Day (ID) while the Punjab police and security agencies stepped up measures days to avert any untoward incident in the border holy city.
Pro-Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun-led banned organisation - Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) - claimed responsibility.
The slogans were found to have been scribbled outside Shivala Bhaian temple, one of the prominent Hindu temples in the city, where the public noticed the slogan ``Khalistan Zindabad’’ spray-painted in the wee hours.
Similar slogans were also seen outside the Khalsa College which were noticed by security guards, following which the city police swung into action, and held that all such slogans were scribbled at the points which were not covered under the reach of the CCTV cameras’ installed around these locations.

However, even though there were unconfirmed reports that similar slogans were also scribbled outside the district court complex, the same was not confirmed by the police.
The city police teams, led by the commissioner of police (CP), Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, visited the temple and the Khalsacollege locations following which a case was registered against some unknown persons.
Meanwhile, in a video on social media, Pannun could be purportedly seen targeting chief minister Bhagwant Mann over the issue of the contentious land-pooling scheme and asking him to refrain from hoisting the Tricolour on I-Day.
