Political Storm In Gujarat As BJP MP Mansukh Vasava Alleges Widespread Corruption In MGNREGA Scheme
Speaking during a public meeting at the Rajpipla Guest House, Vasava said, “The agency involved in the MGNREGA scam showed me a list, which clearly mentions payments made to the leaders of the political parties. No one’s hands are clean—not even the opposition. They too have taken money.”

Mansukh Vasava |
Bharuch: Mansukh Vasava, a seven-term BJP MP from the Bharuch Parliamentary constitution has made explosive allegation against the leaders from across party lines, including BJP, Congress and senior government officers for receiving ‘kick backs’ in the multi-crores worth of MGNREGA scam in Bharuch district. The accusations of the senior BJP MP has exploded into a full blown political warfare in the state of Gujarat.
Speaking during a public meeting at the Rajpipla Guest House, Vasava said, “The agency involved in the MGNREGA scam showed me a list, which clearly mentions payments made to the leaders of the political parties. No one’s hands are clean—not even the opposition. They too have taken money.”
The revelation has sent shockwaves through Gujarat’s political circles and brought the focus firmly back on corruption within the ₹1,000 crore rural employment scheme.
Demand for Statewide CID Investigation
Vasava named 'Swarnim', an agency reportedly involved in executing MGNREGA projects, and demanded a CID probe into its operations—not just in Bharuch or Narmada, but across all districts of Gujarat.
“Why is no one investigating Swarnim? I request the state government to launch a CID investigation into all MGNREGA works in Gujarat,” said Vasava.

His remarks indicate the scam may be far more widespread and institutionalized than earlier believed.
U-Turn After Gandhinagar Jab
Initially, Vasava took a direct dig at senior bureaucrats and ministers, saying, “The people of Gandhinagar are not washed with milk. Everyone has received a cut—from ministers to secretaries.”
But within hours, he dialed down the rhetoric, suggesting that the "setting" was up to the Gandhinagar office level, but not implicating senior ministers directly. This sudden shift in stance has raised eyebrows.
"The List Exists… But Not With Me"
Despite making such serious charges, Vasava did not release the list of alleged beneficiaries.
“The list was shown to me by people from the agency. How much of it is true, I cannot say. It’s up to the investigative agencies,” he claimed.
This ambiguous backpedaling has cast doubts on whether Vasava is blowing the whistle or simply testing political waters without taking responsibility.
Political Fallout and Government Response Awaited
The allegations have rattled the political establishment, with both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress under the scanner. The credibility of Gujarat’s rural development projects now hangs in the balance.
“If even 10% of what Vasava claims is true, this is a deep rot in the system,” said a senior bureaucrat on condition of anonymity.
All eyes are now on how Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s government responds—whether it orders a genuine CID probe or dismisses Vasava’s claims as political theatre.
