Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major highway projects, which are set to accelerate connectivity for Haryana’s Sonepat district and Bahadurgarh town of Jhajjar district in national capital region (NCR), on August 17, 2025.

Haryana chief minister Nayab Saini told newspersons here on Saturday that the Prime Minister will inaugurate six road projects worth about Rs 11,000 crore, two of which are connected to Haryana. These two projects, costing about Rs 2,000 crore, are part of the Urban Extension Road-2 initiative – that will free the NCR from traffic jams and connectivity challenges.

Saini said that these two projects will serve as vital four-lane link roads connecting the Delhi–NCR region with Haryana’s industrial clusters. He added that the improved network will not only facilitate smoother transport but also unlock fresh opportunities for trade and employment.

He said that a 29.6-km road built at a cost of Rs 1,490 crore will provide direct connectivity to Sonepat and relieve the heavy congestion on national highway-44. This road will also connect the Bawana industrial area directly with NH-352A (Jind–Gohana road), giving a new push to trade and industry. A 7.3-km stretch costing Rs 487 crore will link Dichaon Kalan in Delhi directly to Bahadurgarh and the KMP Expressway, ensuring easy access to both, he shared.
