PM Modi Speaks To US President Joe Biden On Phone, Discusses Situation In Ukraine And Safety Of Hindus In Bangladesh
Prime Minister Modi recently returned from a two-day trip to Poland and Ukraine. PM Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and made clear India's stand and commitment to peace on the issue of Ukraine conflict with Russia.

New Delhi, August 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said he had a telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden and that he discussed regional and global issues with the US President. The Prime Minister shared the information in an X post and reiterated India's stand and commitment for India's full support for early return of peace and stability in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister said that discussions took place from Ukraine issue to the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.
"Narendra Modi@narendramodi Spoke to @POTUS @JoeBiden on phone today. We had a detailed exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. I reiterated India’s full support for early return of peace and stability," read the post.
"We also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and stressed on the need for early restoration of normalcy, and ensuring the safety and security of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh," PM Modi posted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussing the situation in Bangladesh with US President Joe Biden shows India is closely watching the developments in Bangladesh. Safety of minorities including Hindus in Bangladesh made headlines after reports of attacks on minorities and Hindus had surfaced after former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5.
The interim government formed in Bangladesh under Muhammad Yunus has assured the safety of Hindus in the country. He also appealed to the protesters that minorities in Bangladesh should not be harmed in anyway. However, situation in Bangladesh continues to be far from normal and stable. Meanwhile, demands are made in Bangladesh that India handover Sheikh Hasina so that she can face trial.
