Hindu-Muslim Unity On Display In Kanwar Yatra From Meerut |
As the sacred month of Sawan begins today, a unique Kanwar from Meerut’s Sadar Bazar is sending a powerful message of communal harmony and national unity. In a remarkable display of brotherhood, Muslim youths are joining hands with local resident Gaurav to construct a grand Kanwar under the banner of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The Kanwar Yatra, traditionally a pilgrimage of devotion and faith, is fast becoming a symbol of social messages and collective unity. The “Operation Sindoor” Kanwar is expected to draw widespread attention across Meerut and neighbouring districts.
Gaurav, who is spearheading the initiative, said he, along with 20 companions, will begin their journey to Haridwar on July 15. They plan to collect Gangajal on July 16 and return to Meerut. “This is not just a Kanwar—it is a tribute to our country’s strength and a call for unity,” said Gaurav.
The Kanwar, standing 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide, is being adorned with replicas of Bharat Mata, a Rafale fighter jet, an army tank, and Hindu temples—showcasing India's military might and cultural pride. Artisan Neeraj Dhameja, who is helping design the Kanwar, said, “This Kanwar is a glimpse of our nation’s strength.”
In a heartwarming gesture of solidarity, Shah Nawaz Jamali, the Imam of a local mosque, extended his support. “We stand with our country. Initiatives like this prove that we are united beyond religion,” he said.

Gaurav explained that the “Operation Sindoor” Kanwar is dedicated to the victims of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent lives were lost. The brutal killings sparked nationwide outrage, and the Indian Army responded with a fierce counter-offensive against terrorists and Pakistan-based handlers.
“This Kanwar is our way of remembering the martyrs and showing that the nation stands united in grief, resilience, and pride,” Gaurav added.
With its bold theme, patriotic elements, and a spirit of Hindu-Muslim unity, the Operation Sindoor Kanwar is not just a religious symbol—it’s a moving representation of modern India’s inclusive spirit.
