'Operation Akhal': Two Indian Army Soldiers Killed In Action As Kulgam Encounter Enters Day 9

Two Indian Army soldiers made a supreme sacrifice during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam. Operation Akhal launched by security forces in Kulgam entered ninth day on Saturday.

Kulgam: Two Indian Army soldiers made a supreme sacrifice during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam as Operation Akhal entered its ninth day on Saturday, August 9. So far, ten soldiers have been reportedly injured in the operation after two more security personnel were also injured in an overnight gunfight, reported India Today.

The soldiers who were killed in action are - Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh. The Indian Army's Chinar Corps paid tributes to the bravehearts.

"Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. #IndianArmy expresses deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families," the China Corps said in an X post.

The operation is currently underway. So far, one terrorist has been killed in the operation. Nearly a week ago, security forces neutralised the terrorist.

The joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG).

Earlier on Friday, the China Corps, in another X post, said, "Intermittent and Intense fire fight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the nooze while maintaining contact. One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces so far. Operation continues."

Meanwhile, a terrorist hideout was busted in the Gogaldara-Danwas forest by the Baramulla Police.
