Srinagar: In the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, spiritual leader Morari Bapu, who returned to the valley after 35 years, suspended his ongoing Ram Katha event in Srinagar. The move comes amid rising security concerns following the brutal killing of 26 people, including tourists and Hindu pilgrims.
The announcement was made via the official X handle of the Shree Chitrakutdham Trust on April 23. “Ram Katha 955, which is held in Srinagar has been postponed after the 5th day of Katha until further notice due to the current situation in Jammu & Kashmir... The remaining 4 days of Katha will resume when possible,” the post read.

Morari Bapu Pays Tribute, Offers Financial Condolence
In an emotional video, Morari Bapu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and offered prayers for the departed souls. “We should bow to their Nirvana... those who got injured should get well soon. We should pray for this at the feet of Hanuman ji,” he said.
Bapu also announced a symbolic financial tribute. “I will ask Arunbhai to tie a Tulsi leaf worth Rs 5 lakh to the families of these departed souls,” he added, referring to it as a gesture of spiritual and heartfelt condolence.

Bhavnagar Family Devastated in Attack
Among the victims killed in the attack, was a family from Bhavnagar, Gujarat. According to reports, Yatish Parmar, his teenage son Smit, and wife Kajal had travelled to J&K with a group of around 20 devotees for the Ram Katha. On the day of the attack, the group had gone sightseeing in the Baisaran Valley when terrorists opened fire indiscriminately. Only Kajal survived.
The mortal remains of Yatish and Smit were brought to Ahmedabad airport on Wednesday (April 23) evening, according to a report by DeshGujarat.
Morari Bapu’s decision to pause the Ram Katha is being seen as a precautionary step, prioritising public safety. The sessions, which had entered their fifth day, will remain suspended until authorities deem it safe to resume.
