An alert conductor saved the lives of the passengers in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul district on Friday. When the bus driver suffered a heart attack, the conductor pressed the brakes of the vehicle with his hands to stop it.

Chennai: A major tragedy was averted on Friday, May 23, after an alert conductor saved the lives of the passengers in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul district. According to reports, when the bus driver suffered a heart attack, the conductor pressed the brakes of the vehicle with his hands to stop it.
Unfortunately, the driver could not survive the heart attack. The incident was captured on CCTV installed inside the bus and soon the video went viral on social media. In the video, the driver could be seen collapsing while the bus was still moving. Seeing, the driver collapsing, the conductor immediately applied handbrakes.

At the time of the incident, there were 35 passengers travelling on the bus, reported NDTV. The video also shows a female passenger, who was sitting alone in the front, falling from her seat as soon as brakes were applied. After the bus stopped, other passengers also rushed towards the driver's seat to rescue him.
All the passengers were reported to be safe. The incident took place when the bus was crossing Kanakampatti, reported India Today.
An investigation has been launched into the matter. As per the India Today report, police are questioning the bus conductor and other passengers.
A similar incident took place last year in November when a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) driver died after suffering a cardiac arrest during the moving bus near Yeshwantpur.
