Lufthansa's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Flight To Hyderabad Forced To Return To Frankfurt Due To Bomb Threat; 'Landing Permission Denied,' Says Airline

Hyderabad: A Lufthansa flight en route to Hyderabad was forced to turn back mid-air and return to Frankfurt after a bomb threat was reported, leading authorities to deny landing permission at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

The flight LH752, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, had departed from Frankfurt on Monday and was scheduled to land in Hyderabad in the early hours. However, it was still in international airspace when the threat emerged, causing Indian authorities to instruct the airline not to proceed with landing. "We did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad and that’s why the aircraft took a u-turn and returned," said the airline in its statement to ANI.

According to Lufthansa’s official statement to news agency ANI, the aircraft was denied landing clearance in Hyderabad and therefore returned to its point of origin. Hyderabad airport officials confirmed that the flight was diverted due to the bomb threat received while it was still outside Indian airspace. The airline did not disclose the number of passengers or the specific nature of the threat, but sources indicated that safety protocols were immediately activated once the alert was received.

British Airways Dreamliner Returns To London Due To Technical Snag

Adding to the list of flight-related disruptions, a British Airways Dreamliner heading to Chennai was compelled to return to London due to a technical snag on Sunday. British Airways, in a statement, confirmed that the aircraft made a precautionary return to Heathrow after detecting a technical issue mid-air. All passengers and crew disembarked safely upon landing. The airline refrained from sharing details about the total number of people onboard or the exact duration of the flight before the return.

Data from Flightradar24.com revealed that British Airways flight BA35, scheduled to depart at 12:40 pm from Heathrow, eventually took off at 1:16 pm and was expected to arrive in Chennai at 3:30 am. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner circled in multiple holding patterns before returning to its departure airport after remaining airborne for approximately two hours.
