Kerala News: 28-Year-Old Man Dies After Swallowing Synthetic Drug Packets To Evade Police Arrest

Thiruvananthapuram: A 28-year-old man in Kerala died on Saturday after swallowing three packets of synthetic drug on spotting a police enforcement squad.

The deceased, identified as Iyyadan Shanid of Thamarassery, was initially taken into custody on suspicion of possessing MDMA for local distribution. According to police sources, he swallowed two plastic packets containing the drug in an attempt to evade arrest and attempted to flee.

Shanid was first rushed to the Thamarassery Taluk Hospital and then shifted to Kozhikode Medical College for specialised treatment, where a CT scan and endoscopy revealed two plastic packets inside his stomach.

Doctors also detected a white substance inside the packets. Despite medical intervention, he was declared dead at around 11 am.

According to police sources, Shanid had been under surveillance for alleged drug dealing and was apprehended from Ambayathode, where he was reportedly waiting for clients.

Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact quantity of drugs he consumed.
