Mirzapur: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur, involving alleged misuse of power and indecent behaviour by a police inspector.

It is alleged that after getting his spectacles repaired, the inspector forcibly took them from the shop without paying. When the shopkeeper asked for the payment, the inspector not only verbally abused him but also threatened him.

The incident took place on 25th July 2025 (Friday) at around 3:30 PM, when a police inspector posted at Katra Kotwali visited the "Chashma Point" shop to get his glasses repaired. According to the shop owner, Dr Ajit Singh, the inspector was informed in advance that the repair would cost ₹800. Despite this, the inspector refused to pay and, after getting the glasses fixed, left the shop without settling the bill.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced. In the audio, the shop owner can be heard politely saying, "Bata diya tha pheli bhi," which roughly translates to "Had told you earlier as well." To this, the inspector raises his voice and replies, "Tum jo chaoge wahi hoga?" which translates to "You think whatever you want will happen?" He further adds, "1,500 Rs mei pura chashma banaya hu," meaning "I had the entire spectacles made for ₹1,500."

The cop does not allow the optician to speak, takes the spectacles from the counter, and begins to walk out.

The optician then asks, "Nahi denge paisa?" which means "Won’t you pay the money?" To which the inspector replies, "Nahi denge, joh karna hai jake kar lo," roughly translated as "I won’t pay — do whatever you want."

Video Goes Viral

The video has gone viral on social media. Mirzapur Police has also responded to the video.

Mirzapur Police’s Side

Mirzapur Police has reacted to the viral video, and in a long post on X, it said, "When the City Area Officer investigated the viral video on social media, it came to light that Inspector Rakesh Kumar Singh had made an advance online payment of ₹ 5000/- to Chashma Point 03 days ago to get his glasses made."

"When the inspector reached the shop to get the glasses on the scheduled date, the glasses were not ready and the shopkeeper told him that if he paid ₹ 800/- more, another pair of glasses would be made today itself. Whereas the glasses that were given earlier for making have not been prepared yet. Due to lack of glasses, the inspector was facing extreme difficulties in seeing and he got angry with the shopkeeper for not getting the glasses on the scheduled date," the post read.

Mirzapur Police also posted a photo of the UPI transaction of the payment and said, "The shopkeeper is presenting the matter in a wrong manner and making false allegations."
