The move came a day after Tej Pratap sparked controversy by sharing a photo with a woman, claiming she was his girlfriend of 12 years. He later deleted the post, alleging his account had been hacked and the image doctored.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday severed ties with his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, expelling him from the party for six years. The decision was announced via a social media post, citing "disciplinary reasons".
The move came a day after Tej Pratap sparked controversy by sharing a photo with a woman, claiming she was his girlfriend of 12 years. He later deleted the post, alleging his account had been hacked and the image doctored.
Lalu Yadav’s Statement on X
In his post, the RJD chief wrote, "Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct, and irresponsible behaviour of my eldest son (Tej Pratap) are incompatible with our family values and traditions. Therefore, under these circumstances, I am removing him from the party and family. Henceforth, he will have no role in either."
He further stated, "He (Tej Pratap) is capable of judging right and wrong in his personal life. Those who associate with him may decide for themselves. I have always believed in public accountability, and the disciplined members of our family uphold this principle."
