'Invited Pakistan For My Swearing-In To Turn Over A New Leaf, But...': PM Modi On Lex Fridman's Podcast
PM Modi expressed his belief that Pakistani citizens desire peace, as they must be weary of constant conflict, instability, and terrorism that claims innocent children's lives and devastates countless others.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who featured in American computer scientist Lex Fridman's podcast that was released on Sunday, said that every attempt to foster peace with Pakistan was met with hostility and betrayal. He expressed hope that wisdom would prevail on the leadership in Islamabad to improve bilateral ties.
PM Modi, who spoke on topics ranging from his early life to the India-Pakistan relationship, recalled that he had invited then-Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his swearing-in ceremony in 2014. "I invited Pakistan for my swearing-in to turn over a new leaf, but each attempt at peace was met with hostility and betrayal," he said.
"We sincerely hope that wisdom prevails upon Pakistan and they choose the path of peace; even the people of Pakistan long for peace," he added.
In a candid conversation with Lex Fridman that lasted more than three hours, Modi shared insights on governance, development, global affairs, and India's progress.
