Days after slamming Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the rise in violent crimes, including rapes and murders in the state, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan said on Monday, "Hum Sath Sath Hain" (We are together) and accused the opposition of amplifying his words to create a rift between the ruling alliance in the state.

In an interview with the news agency ANI, Chirag Paswan said that he trusts Nitish Kumar and his governance.

"I try to put forward the points of the people before the government through this alliance. I am a part of the government and I have got that platform to put forth my views... Since I am not a part of the government in Bihar, I am supporting the government, so when I come across instances that add to the problems of Biharis, such as the law and order issue, I try to strongly keep it before the government so that actions are taken," he said.

Dialling down his earlier statement against the Bihar CM, Chirag said, "The opposition tries to mislead people about my words, indicating I am repeating my mistakes... The NDA alliance is a winning combination in Bihar... We will win more than 225 seats and form the government. Hum Sath Sath Hain. The opposition tries its best to show a rift between us by amplifying my words. I trust Nitish Kumar and his governance..."

On 26 July, speaking at a press interaction in Patna, Chirag had said, "I feel sad that I am supporting a government where crime has become rampant. It is imperative to control it, or else the consequences will be very bad. This is playing with the lives of people here."

His statement followed an increase in violent incidents in the state, raising concerns about the law-and-order situation.
