Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate several projects including the air services from Hisar airport on Monday (April 14).
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 800 MW modern thermal power unit of Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) in Yamunanagar. This third unit, spread across 233 acres, involves an investment of Rs 8,469 crore. Scheduled to be completed within 52 months, the project is expected to commence commercial operations by March 2029. Once operational, it will significantly boost Haryana's energy self-sufficiency and ensure uninterrupted power supply for industries across the state.
Modi will also inaugurate air services from Maharaja Agrasen Airport, Hisar. He will flag off the first flight to Ayodhya. With scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya (twice weekly), three flights in a week to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, this development marks a significant leap in Haryana’s aviation connectivity.
Additionally, the foundation stone for Phase II of the airport will be laid on the same day. This Rs 413 crore phase, targeted for completion by April 17, 2027, will include a state-of-the-art passenger terminal (37,790 sq. meters), a cargo terminal (2,235 sq. meters), and an ATC building, transforming Hisar into a major hub for trade and transport.
He would also lay the foundation stone of a Compressed Biogas Plant in Mukarbpur, within the Yamunanagar-Jagadhari Municipal Corporation area. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes and is slated for completion by 2027.
