Gujarat Elections 2022: Full list of AAP candidates and constituencies

New Delhi: Gujarat is all ready for the assembly elections of 2022 that are scheduled for the month of December. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its preliminary list of 160 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly Election 2022.

As per the schedule of the Election Commission of India, the polling in Gujarat will take place in two phases, on December 1 and 5.

The Gujarat Legislative Assembly has a total of 182 seats. Out of it, 89 constituencies will vote on December 1, and the remaining 93 will vote on December 5.

The counting of votes is scheduled to be held on December 8.

Gujarat has seen a bipolar contest between the BJP and the Congress until now. However, with the entry of AAPs, the contest is likely to become more interesting.

Though the BJP is confident of winning another consecutive term, Rahul Gandhi has also shown confidence, saying, "We are a solid party in Gujarat," during a press conference during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana.

With the AAP joining the fray with its high-decibel campaign, the state is set to witness a three-cornered poll contest this time.

The Kejriwal-led party is hoping to gain its foothold in the state by winning several seats in the polls to be held in two phases on December 1 and 5.

According to rules, a political party gets the status of a "State Party" if it secures 6 per cent of the votes polled and two seats in a legislative assembly.

If a party gets the status of a "State Party" in four states, it automatically becomes a "National Party".

The AAP is recognised as a "State Party" in Delhi, Punjab and Goa.

If it secures 6 per cent of the votes polled and two seats in Gujarat, it will earn the tag of a "National Party".
