Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), July 2025: The members of the Hindu Raksha Dal on Thursday protested against the popular non-vegetarian restaurants like KFC and Nazir in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. The video of the protests held outside these restaurants have surfaced on social media and it can be seen in the video that the protesters are holding saffron flags and chanting 'Jai Sri Ram' and other slogans. The protest was held demanding a complete ban on sale of meat during the sacred month of Sawan.
As per reports, the sale of meat near the Kanwar Yatra routes hurt the religious sentiments of the devotees and many of them pass through the area during their pilgrimage. The protesting group claims that the smell and sight of the meat being prepared and sold at these restaurants near the religious routes of the Kanwariyas is disrespectful as millions of Hindus in the country observe fasting, prayer and purity.
Details About The Protests
1. The Hindu Raksha Dal workers gathered outside KFC and Nazir restaurant in Vasundhara.
2. They demanded that these eateries stop serving meat during the month of Sawan.
3. In a strong show of protest, they forced the KFC outlet to shut its shutters.
4. They warned that if meat sales continue during Sawan, they would intensify their agitation.
The organisation has formally appealed to the local administration with a request:
1. Ban all non-vegetarian food outlets within 100 to 200 meters of the Kanwar pilgrimage route during the Sawan month.
2. They believe this would show respect for the faith of devotees and maintain the spiritual atmosphere of the region.
3. A spokesperson for the group said, "When lakhs of people are immersed in devotion, it is necessary to honour their faith by avoiding things that can offend religious feelings."
Current Situation
So far, no official statement has been released by the local administration or the management of the KFC and Nazir restaurants.
Background On Sawan and Kanwar Yatra
