New Delhi: Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, as multiple Pakistani posts along the Line of Control (LoC) opened fire, leading to retaliatory action from the Indian Army, as per reports. No casualties were reported on the Indian side, but the firing, considered unusual in scale, came just three days after the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

PM Modi's Stern Warning To Terrorists

Responding publicly for the first time since the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday declared that India would not rest until justice was delivered. Speaking at a public gathering in Bihar’s Madhubani, he said, “India will pursue the perpetrators to the end of the Earth,” showing the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.

India Informs Pakistan On Suspension Of Indus Water Treaty

In a major diplomatic move, India also informed Pakistan on Thursday of its decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with immediate effect. All Party Meeting Held In Delhi

The central government also convened an all-party meeting in New Delhi on Thursday to brief political leaders on the situation. During the meeting, officials stated that the Pahalgam attack was intended to vitiate the country’s atmosphere. The government reassured party representatives that national security was being fortified and that counter-terrorism measures were being intensified.

The attack, which targeted a group of tourists and security personnel, is being viewed as a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace and destabilise the region. With the Pakistani Army’s activity at the LoC further raising concerns, India’s armed forces have been put on high alert.
