ECI Doubles Remuneration For BLOs; Introduces Honorarium For EROs, AEROs After A Decade
From existing Rs. 6000 the BLOs will now get Rs. 12000, Incentive to BLO for Revision of electoral roll from Rs 1000 became Rs 2000. BLO Supervisor from Rs 12000 will get Rs 18000 and AERO will get Rs 25000 which was ‘NIL’ earlier and ERO will get Rs 30000 which was also ‘NIL” earlier in 2015.

Kolkata: Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced increase in salary from Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) after 10 years.
According to the media statement, “Pure electoral rolls are the bedrock of democracy. The electoral roll machinery, consisting of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), BLO Supervisors and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), do a lot of hard work and play a pivotal role in preparation of impartial and transparent electoral rolls. The Commission has therefore decided to double the annual remuneration for BLOs and also enhanced the remuneration of BLO Supervisors involved in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls. The last such revision was done in 2015. Also, an honorarium has been provided for EROs and AEROs for the first time.”

Meanwhile, ECI also asks BLOs to visit people’s residence with verification forms.
According to EC sources, the BLOs will visit the houses of the residence thrice to give and to take back the forms.
