Portion Of Hill Collapses As Massive Landslide Hits Nauhradhar Area In Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur (Screengrab) | X/@PTI_News

Sirmaur: A massive landslide hit Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district on Saturday, September 6, amid incessant rainfall across several districts of the state. The incident was captured on camera, and dramatic visuals also surfaced online. The landslide struck near Chaukar village in Sirmaur’s Nauhradhar area.

In the visuals, a large part of the hill could be seen collapsing. The landslide stretched nearly 200 metres. According to reports, five people present at the spot are reported to be safe. Here is a danger to the houses located in the area.

So far, no casualties have been reported. The area suffered heavy damage due to the monsoon this year.

Authorities rushed to the spot after receiving information and launched a rescue operation.

Meanwhile, a landslide also struck National Highway-5 (NH-5) near the Nathpa Dam in Kinnaur, reported NDTV. The debris flowing down the hill are putting the 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydropower Project in danger. The incident was recorded on camera. The traffic movement was reportedly disrupted.

Earlier this month, a massive landslide also hit Wangtu in Kinnaur, damaging several vehicles.

Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh. So far, 355 have lost their lives in in the state due to inclement weather conditions. According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), 194 people died in rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, drowning, lightning strikes, and other weather-triggered causes, while 161 have died in road accidents.
