Raipur/Kawardha: Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched ‘Sashakt Panchayat-Netri Abhiyan’ on Tuesday to empower the elected Women Panchayat Political representatives, and issue of proxy sarpanchs i.e. Panch and Sarpanch pati got raised coincidently on the same day a video circulated on the social media where instead of winning women panchs their husbands took oath as elected panchayat representative in Chhattisgarh’s Pandariya.

On the issue, Zila Panchayat CEO Ajay Tripathi interacted with the media and said, he has instructed the Janpad CEO to investigate the matter and filed the report in stipulated time.

Meanwhile, Gram Panchayat Secretary Pranveer Thakur said that villagers and new panchayat officials were invited to take the oath. Only male punchs turned up for the oath taking ceremony. He denied any Sarpanch Pati took oath.

As per the information received, total 12 sarpanchs were elected from 12 wards. As there is a provision of fifty percent reservation for females, six women also got elected on the Sarpanch post.
