Chennai: A well-known Chennai-based deemed to be university on Thursday suspended a female Assistant Professor, who posted controversial messages on Operation Sindoor on social media.
S Lora, an Assistant Professor in Communication English at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Kattankulathur, had posted messages on social media under the handle name ‘Verbal’. One of the posts read: “India killed a CHILD in Pakistan and wounded two people in the early Wednesday strikes. Killing innocent lives for your own bloodlust and for your election stunts is not BRAVERY and it’s not JUSTICE. It’s a cowardice act!”

Against this backdrop, on Thursday, suspended her. The suspension letter, issued by the university registrar S Ponnusamy, which users shared on social media, said, since Lora had “involved in unethical activities she is placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending enquiry.”
As per the profile of Lora on the university website, she is also an expert in sign language and a recipient of the Best Teacher Award in 2016.
