According to UP Metro officials, construction is expected to begin next month as surveys and soil testing are already complete. Land acquisition for the corridor has also been finalised. The Blue Line will serve densely populated areas, linking old Lucknow with key transit points such as Charbagh Railway Station, Alambagh Bus Stand, and the airport, as well as King George’s Medical University (KGMU).
The interchange station at Charbagh will connect Phase-2 to the existing Red Line. Underground stations will include Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical College Crossing, and Chowk, while elevated stations will be Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musabagh, and Vasant Kunj.
Authorities said the new corridor is expected to ease congestion in busy markets such as Aminabad and Chowk, providing faster, safer, and more reliable transport for commuters and shoppers. The elevated section from Thakurganj to Vasant Kunj will run parallel to existing roads and flyovers to reduce disruption during construction.
