Caught On Camera: Priests Slap Each Other Inside Vindhyachal Temple Over Puja Timings In UP's Mirzapur; WATCH

Mirzapur: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur, where a scuffle broke out between priests of the popular Maa Vindhyavasini Devi Temple at midnight on Friday. A video of the fight has surfaced on social media and is doing the rounds on the internet. The viral video shows priests in saffron, white and yellow colour clothes exchanging slaps inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Reportedly, preparations for the goddess's sleep were underway at the temple around midnight on Friday. According to temple rules, no puja is performed after the aarti at 12 a.m, as this time is considered the period of Maa Vindhyavasini's rest. While the temple’s Shringari Pujari and his son were making arrangements for the goddess’s sleep, another priest allegedly entered the sanctum sanctorum forcibly along with some devotees and began performing puja. When the priest objected, a dispute broke out and soon the alteraction escalated.

Police has filed a case under relevant sections, and further investigation in the matter is underway.
