Mysuru: A family travelling in an auto rickshaw was viciously attacked with machetes on a busy Mysuru road on Thursday night, allegedly over a personal affair involving their son.

The brutal act, captured on CCTV, took place on Ramanuja Road in Agrahara around 9:18 pm, leaving one member seriously injured and bystanders in stunned silence.

Auto Intercepted, Attack Unfolds in Full Public View

The shocking incident began when a black car started tailing the auto carrying four members of the family, Rajanna, Kumuda, Vishalakshi, and Renukamma. As the auto reached 12th Cross, the car intercepted it, and four assailants, identified as Ramu, his wife Soumya, Abbaiyya, and Prasad, emerged wielding sharp weapons.

What followed was a chilling assault that lasted nearly a minute. CCTV footage shows the auto shaking violently under the force of the attack, while the driver quickly fled the scene. Broken bangles, blood stains, and scattered slippers marked the aftermath, as onlookers failed to intervene.

One of the victims suffered critical injuries and had to be rushed to hospital for treatment. Police from the KR Station are currently investigating the case and working to trace the attackers.

What Triggered the Attack?

According to reports, the attack was triggered by Rajanna’s affair with a girl from the accused’s family. The relationship had a complicated and controversial history, initially, a POCSO case was filed against Rajanna when the girl was a minor. The two had eloped, prompting a missing person complaint.

However, once the girl turned 18, she appeared before the police and clarified that she was not missing and was in a consensual relationship with Rajanna. This enraged her family, who allegedly orchestrated Thursday’s violent retaliation.

Police have confirmed that Rajanna is already married to another woman. Investigations are ongoing, and officials have vowed to take strict action against those involved in the assault.
