Bihar: Madhubani, Munger And Muzaffarpur To Get Small Airports; Nitish Cabines Approves 20 Agendas

An important meeting of the Nitish Cabinet was held in Patna, the capital of Bihar, on Tuesday. Chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the cabinet meeting approved several key decisions. All cabinet ministers were present alongside the CM during the meeting, which took place at the Old Secretariat. A total of 20 agenda items were approved.

The Nitish Cabinet decided that small airports will be constructed in Madhubani, Veerpur, Munger, Valmikinagar, Muzaffarpur, and Saharsa. Under the UDAN scheme, an agreement has been reached between the Airports Authority of India (AAI), New Delhi, and the Bihar government to develop these as minor airports. The cabinet approved approximately Rs 150 crore for each airport. Additionally, a consensus was reached on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for pulses and oilseeds.

Approval was granted for the construction of a five-star hotel at the site of Hotel Patliputra Ashok in Patna. The project has been allocated to a private agency under the PPP model. Kumar Infra Red Enterprises has been issued a Letter of Award for a 60-year lease, with the possibility of extending the lease by another 30 years.

In the Bihar Cabinet meeting, the contract for retired army personnel recruited under the Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) within the Bihar Police was extended until 2025-26. Approval was also given for recruitment in the State Sports Academy.

A Revenue Advisory Committee will be formed to provide consultation and recommendations on complex matters under the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. Furthermore, the cabinet approved appointments for the positions of librarians, school attendants, and counsellors under the Education Department.

The Bihar Rajya Vidyalaya Paricharya Sangh Niyamavali 2025 (Bihar State School Attendant Cadre Rules 2025) was approved. Under this, 50% of clerical and attendant posts in the Education Department will now be filled through compassionate appointments, while the remaining 50% will be filled through direct recruitment.

The state cabinet has fixed the MSP for chana (Rs 5,650), mustard (Rs 5,950), and masoor (Rs 6,700). The government will also procure these crops.

To enhance the operational capacity of Bihar Police and strengthen action against insurgents, the engagement of 1,717 retired Indian Army personnel has been extended until 2025-26.

The Nitish Cabinet also approved Rs 2.58 crore for a re-survey of Bihar’s five major rivers—Son, Gandak, Kosi, Moharhar, and Punpun—to provide relief to farmers in drought-affected areas. New positions in the Health Department were sanctioned, and nearly 70 acres of land were allocated to the Industries Department for developing an industrial zone in Nawada district.
