Patna: Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday hit out at the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar over the prevailing law and order situation in the state ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. While interacting with reporters, Paswan said that he is saddened that his party is supporting this government.

"There has been a series of criminal incidents in Bihar, one after another, and the administration of Bihar has completely turned a blind eye to the criminals. It is true that the incidents that have taken place are as condemnatory as they are shameful," the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader told the media.

Chirag Paswan's Statement:

He added that no one feels safe in Bihar these days. Paswan also stated that there is a rise in incidents of violence in Bihar due to the upcoming elections. However, he lashed out at the state government for its failure to stop crime.

"Today, it is said that such incidents are happening due to the elections. If the elections are also a reason, and I believe that the elections are also a reason. These incidents are being perpetrated with the conspiracy to defame the government. But even then, it is the responsibility of the administration to control it," Paswan said.

"How is any criminal perpetrating criminal incidents in your state while being under the administration? Either there is a collusion with the administration, or the administration is working to cover it up. Or the administration has become completely useless. And now it is not in their control to keep Bihar and the people of Bihar safe," he added.

"Mujhe iss baat ka dukh hota hai ki main ek aisi sarkaar ka yahaan samarthan kar rha hoon, jahaan pe apraadh belagaam ho chuka hai (I am saddened by the fact that I am supporting such a government, where the crime has gone out of control.)," the Union Minister stated.

Notably, in the past several weeks, many incidents of shooting have been reported in Bihar. Earlier this month, renowned businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead outside his residence in Patna by a bike-borne assailant. The incident had taken place near the gate of Khemka's house in the Gandhi Maidan locality in Patna.

Meanwhile, later this month, unidentified assailants also shot dead a murder convict, Chandan Mishra, who was admitted to a hospital in Patna for treatment.

The assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled to take place later this year. However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the poll dates.
