Bengaluru Rains: Heavy Showers Lash Karnataka Capital, Yellow Alert Issued; Waterlogging, Traffic Disruptions Reported In Several Area | VIDEOS
Bengaluru has been witnessing heavy rains from the past two days. Waterlogging and traffic disruption have been reported in several areas of the city. Bengaluru city alone received 103 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, according to an IMD bulletin, reported PTI. One of the worst rain-affected areas in Bengaluru so far was Sai Layout in Horamavu.

Bengaluru (Karnataka), May 19: Bengaluru have been witnessing heavy rains for the past 48 hours. Waterlogging has been reported in the city due to incessant showers for over six hours on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Bengaluru is reportedly like to witness moderate rainfall till Friday.
Bengaluru city alone received 103 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, according to an IMD bulletin, reported PTI. One of the worst rain-affected areas in Bengaluru so far was Sai Layout in Horamavu, which falls in the Mahadevapura zone. On Saturday, pre-monsoon rain submerged the layout with 4-5ft of water, leaving streets flooded to knee level.

Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for the city. Kengeri recorded the highest rainfall at 132 mm, followed by Vaderahalli with 131.5 mm, reported The Indian Express, citing data by the Karnataka State Disaster Monitoring Cell.
Amid severe waterlogging, MLA B Basavraj visited the affected area in Sai Layout on a JCB, reported NDTV. He took stock of the situation in the area. According to reports, JCBs are being used to clear waterlogging in some areas.

Several trees were also uprooted in the city due to strong winds. A traffic advisory has been issued by the Bengaluru City police. As per the advisory, the police cautioned people of traffic disruption in northern areas, including Sarayipalya, New Bel Road and Yelahanka Circle, reported the media house.
Several videos of waterlogging and traffic disruptions also surfaced online. Flooding was reported in low-lying areas of the city, such as Bommanahalli, Silk Board junction and HRBR Layout.
On Sunday, IMD had issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall across 23 districts in Karnataka, including Bengaluru, till Thursday.
The alert warned of moderate to heavy thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50 - 60 km/h. Widespread rainfall and thunderstorms are expected throughout the week.
The affected districts include Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Kodagu, Belagavi, Bidar, Raichur, Yadgir, Davanagere, and Chitradurga.
