Bengaluru: A woman allegedly killed one of her three pet dogs as part of a 'tantric' ritual at her Bengaluru residence earlier this week, according to officials quoted by NDTV. The incident came to light after neighbors alerted civic authorities to a foul smell coming from the house.
The woman has been identified as Triparna Payak and is originally from West Bengal. Payak strangled her pet Labrador dog and severed its neck. She then wrapped the dog's body in a cloth, sealed all the windows and doors, locked the flat, and fled.
Days later, when neighbours felt a rotten smell emitting from near the apartment, they informed the Bengaluru civic body (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike).
When civic authorities entered the apartment, they discovered the decomposed body of a dog with a cut on its neck. Various objects present at the spot prompted officials to probe a possible black magic angle. Several religious images were scattered throughout the house, suggesting that a 'tantric' ritual may have been performed.
