Ayodhya: The ongoing rejuvenation of Ayodhya’s historic Brihaspati Kund near Tedhi Bazaar is nearing completion. The project, worth Rs 4.49 crore, is being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam and monitored by the Ayodhya Sanrakshan Vikas Samiti. The kund, one of the 108 ancient water bodies mentioned in Hindu scriptures, is being developed into a spiritual and tourist site with a focus on historical conservation and modern infrastructure.
As part of the beautification, the project includes the installation of statues of three iconic devotional music composers from South India — Tyagaraja Swamigal, Purandar Das, and Arunachala Kavi. The foundation work for the statues is complete, and their arrival at the site is expected within 10 days. The statue installation was later added to the project based on directives from senior officials.

Once neglected, Brihaspati Kund is being restored as a significant religious and tourist destination. Local beliefs associate the kund with the Treta Yuga, stating that Lord Ram and his brothers performed rituals and bathed at such water bodies.
Ayodhya has recently witnessed similar developments at Surya Kund and Bharat Kund. Earlier, a massive veena was installed in honour of singer Lata Mangeshkar at Naya Ghat intersection, reflecting the city’s cultural reverence for music and spirituality.
The restored Brihaspati Kund is expected to open for visitors within the next 45 days, further strengthening Ayodhya’s appeal as a hub of spiritual touris
