Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Saturday took a dig at the Opposition's INDIA Bloc after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crossed the majority mark in Delhi in the early trends. Abdullah posted a meme of a saint on his official X account with the caption "Aur lado aapas mein!!! (Keep fighting among yourselves)".
Notably, the Congress and the AAP are part of the INDIA bloc but failed to form an alliance in Delhi in the assembly polls. The rift between the two parties has been the point of contention as their leaders targeted each other during the campaigning.
In the Lok Sabah Elections 2024 also both parties contested solo in Delhi and Punjab.
Omar Abdullah's tweet:
As per the latest trends, the BJP has crossed the majority mark with over 40 seats. However, the AAP is leading in 28 seats with many prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj trailing from their respective seats. Meanwhile, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal is leading by a narrow margin of around 350 votes from the New Delhi seat.
There are 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. The national capital territory (NCT) witnessed a fierce electoral battle between the AAP, the BJP and the Congress.
The AAP will be hoping to retain power for the third consecutive time, while the BJP is trying its best to dethrone the Arvind Kejriwal-led party. Meanwhile, the Congress, which failed to even win a single seat in the previous two polls, will be eyeing to increase its seat share.
The voting for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 was held on February 5.
