Kuppam: A shocking incident has come to light from Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh, which is also the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. In Thammiganipalli village, Chittoor district, some villagers publicly humiliated an elderly woman by tying her to an electric pole over a land dispute in a field. A video of the incident has also surfaced and is making rounds on the internet. The video shows, the woman saying something in Telugu and crying.
YSRCP Student's Wing Reacts
The student wing of Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has reacted to the video on micro-blogging website X.
Similar Incident Last Month
Earlier last month, a 29-year-old woman named Sirisha was tied against a tree and publicly humiliated for unpaid loan money worth Rs. 80,000.
Her husband, Thimmarayappa, had borrowed money from a villager in Chittoor but was yet to repay. According to journalist Surya Reddy, Thimmarayappa owed around Rs 80,000 to a villager named Munikannappa.
When the locals learned that Sirisha, who had recently moved to Bengaluru, returned to their area, they approached her to settle the amount. They asked her to repay the money, but failing to do so she was punished and tied to a tree.
She was even asked to call her husband and make him settle the loan dispute. However, she mentioned that he left her six months ago and she was no longer in contact with him.
Police Action
A case was registered against the persons, Munikannapa Aand his family members, who mistreated the woman, following her complaint at the nearby police station.
