Patna: Election Commission (EC) on Saturday asserted that all activities related to special intensive revision (SIR) of the voters' list were progressing well as per schedule.

EC’s contention came a day after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav asked whether it was possible to develop the voters’ list for eight crore people within 25 days.

According to a press note issued by the EC, SIR in Bihar has already started successfully in Bihar for verifying the eligibility of each elector with full participation of all political parties.

Out of the existing 7,89,69,844 electors, 4.96 crore electors, whose names are already in the last intensive revision of the electoral roll on 01.01.2003, have to simply verify, fill the Enumeration Form, and submit it.

All divisional commissioners and district magistrates are engaging all the BLOs full-time during the SIR. SMSs are also being sent to the 5,74,07,022 registered mobile numbers of Bihar. All recognised national and state political parties that are registered with the ECI have also already appointed 1,54,977 booth-level agents (BLAs), as they can still appoint more BLAs.

Printing as well as door-to-door distribution of new enumeration forms (EF) for all the existing 7,89,69,844 electors of Bihar has already started in each of the 243 assembly constituencies of Bihar. Online filling of the new Enumeration Forms (EFs) has already been enabled and has also started successfully.

In West Champaran district, district election officer cum district magistrate Dharmendra Kumar on Saturday organised a meeting of all 2731 BLOs and 288 election observers of the district in two sessions and provided training for the special intensive revision campaign and distributed the counting form. Apart from this, around 1300 volunteers and AERO and EROs of all the assembly constituencies participated in the workshop.

In West Champaran district, under the special intensive revision campaign from tomorrow, BLOs will go door-to-door and verify the voters through the counting form.
