Akhilesh Yadav Takes 'Deeper Friendship' Dig At PM Modi After Donald Trump's Claim Of Brokering Ceasefire Between India & Pakistan (VIDEO)

New Delhi: In a scathing attack during the debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, July 29, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav questioned the Modi government's decision to announce a ceasefire after the Pahalgam terror attack, suggesting it signalled a "deeper friendship" with the United States. “We thought the government would announce the ceasefire, but the government asked its friend (Donald Trump) to announce it,” he said.

Yadav also accused the government of compromising national security by allowing such an attack to happen in the first place. He described the need for Operation Sindoor as a “failure” of the government, demanding accountability for the lapses that led to the Pahalgam tragedy.

‘Pahalgam Attack Happened Due to Intelligence Failure’

Raising serious concerns over the handling of intelligence, Yadav questioned the government's silence on how such a high-profile attack was allowed to occur. “The Pahalgam terror attack happened because of our security failure,” he said, asking the Centre to disclose the cause of the breach and clarify who was responsible.

“Pahalgam victims (survivors) have one question: why weren’t we protected?” he said. He added that the government must address the intelligence failure and ensure answers reach the families of those affected.

'China Bigger Threat Than Pakistan'

In his wide-ranging remarks, Yadav cautioned the House against being distracted by rhetoric about Pakistan. “India should stay alert from Pakistan and its partner China,” he said, adding that the “real threat to India is not Pakistan, it is China,” accusing the neighbouring country of stealing Indian land and economic influence.

Taking a poetic swipe at the ruling BJP, he said, “Main duniya ko manane mein laga hoon, mera ghar mujhse rootha ja raha hai,” suggesting that while the government is busy projecting international diplomacy, domestic vulnerabilities are being overlooked.
