In a shocking incident that took place on June 26, a Ticket Checker at Ahmedabad station was unable to board the Mumbai-bound Vande Bharat Express as the train's doors closed. The incident has brought attention to a communication gap between the onboard train staff.

According to sources, the train has a system in place to ensure that all staff members as well as passengers are on board before departure. Besides visual cues, a proper announcement is made within the train to alert the staff as well passengers. In this particular case, it is believed that the ticket checker must have been occupied elsewhere, resulting in him missing the alert system.

The incident came to light when Mumbaikhabar9 tweeted about it on June 29, describing the desperate attempt made by the ticket checker to board the moving train. The incident has sparked a discussion on social media, with users tagging railway authorities and emphasising the importance of ensuring the presence of all staff and passengers on board before allowing train departures.

The video footage shows the train slowly departing from the station, with the ticket checker running alongside the moving train. In a desperate attempt to board the train, he is seen making a daring leap towards one of the doors. However, the momentum and speed of the train were just too much, causing him to lose his balance and fall.

Ameya Mandrekar, a Twitter user, highlighted the significance of proper checks and urged railway authorities to address the issue. Other users also questioned the lack of communication between the ticket checker and the train driver, emphasising the need for thorough checks before departure at every station.

Rail officials instructed to look into the incident

In response to the concerns raised, the division railway manager of the Western Railways' Mumbai Central Division has instructed officials, "Kindly look into the matter."

Defending the railway system, a senior official pointed out the advantages of modern technology and the safety features of the Vande Bharat Express. "The minimal gap between the coaches and the platform, approximately three inches, ensures the safety of passengers as no one can fall between the platform and the tracks. Additionally, an announcement is made before the train starts, notifying passengers and train staff about the impending departure and the closing of doors, preventing any boarding or disembarking from the moving train.
