A tragic incident of alleged medical negligence at Meerut Medical College has led to the death of a young man, sparking anger among villagers and raising serious questions about emergency healthcare services.
Sunil Kumar, a resident of Hasanpur Kala village under Sisoli police station, was severely injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle late last night. Police rushed to the spot and admitted him to the emergency ward of Meerut Medical College. However, what followed was a series of alleged lapses that cost Sunil his life.
Village head Jaggi and other family members reached the hospital soon after the incident. They claim that no doctor attended to Sunil, and the emergency staff remained unresponsive despite repeated pleas.
"The staff was asleep on chairs. Even after multiple requests, no one paid attention," said a relative. A video has surfaced online showing doctor sleeping on chair. The situation worsened when a staff member allegedly suggested amputating Sunil’s leg without even conducting an X-ray and pressured the family to sign consent forms. The family refused, calling it reckless.
