New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's new official residence is set for a high-end makeover, with the Public Works Department (PWD) issuing a tender worth Rs 60 lakh for furnishing and electric fittings.
Gupta, who is currently staying at her private home in Shalimar Bagh, will soon move to Bungalow No 1, which has been allotted to her as the official CM residence. The adjoining Bungalow No 2 will be converted into her camp office.
The tender, issued exclusively for Bungalow No 1 details a range of electronic and household equipment, high-end lighting, and decorative fixtures to be installed within the next 60 days. The tender is scheduled to be opened on July 4.
ACs, LED TVs, CCTV Cameras, Fans and Kitchenware Included
According to the PWD tender document, 14 air conditioners worth Rs 7.7 lakh and five LED televisions worth Rs 9.3 lakh will be installed. Security arrangements include 14 CCTV cameras, estimated at Rs 5.74 lakh. Additional purchases include 23 remote-controlled ceiling fans, a UPS system, and six geysers.
The list also features kitchen and utility appliances such as an OTG (Rs 85,000), a microwave (Rs 32,000), a gas stove (Rs 63,000), a dishwasher (Rs 60,000) and an automatic washing machine (Rs 77,000).
The residence will fall under the Type-7 category, known for its high-grade amenities. Earlier, BJP had declared that Gupta would not occupy the previous CM bungalow at 6 Flagstaff Road, which was used by former CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Chandeliers and Décor to Cost Above Rs 6 Lakh
Interior aesthetics also feature prominently in the proposed upgrades. The tender outlines installation of 115 lighting units, including lamps, wall lights, hanging lights, and three large chandeliers, with a budget of over Rs 6 lakh allocated for lighting and decoration alone.
The PWD has set a strict 60-day completion timeline for the work. Once ready, Gupta will formally move into her new official residence, which appears ready for a luxurious transformation.
