'₹2500 Kab Doge': AAP Leaders Hold Protest Outside CM Rekha Gupta's Office In Assembly Amid Budget Session (Video)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tried to corner the newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the first day of Delhi Assembly's Budget session. On Monday, AAP MLAs led by former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi protested outside Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's office in the Assembly.

The AAP leaders held placards with "Rs 2500 Kab Aayenge" written on them.

Speaking to media, Atishi said, "We asked for the CM's time two days ago but we did not get her time. The Vidhan Sabha session is underway and we have come to her office and we are waiting for her time."

After meeting with the Chief Minister, Atishi told news agency ANI, "Today we went to meet Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji during the session and told her that the guarantee given by Modi ji in the first cabinet meeting to pass the ₹2,500/month scheme has proved to be false. We hope that on March 8, the first installment of Mahila Samman Yojana will definitely reach the account of every woman in Delhi."

In the run-up to Delhi elections, the BJP promised Rs 2,500 per month to women in Delhi, if elected to power. The AAP, the opposition party in the UT, is pressuring the newly-elected government to fulfill its poll promise.
