'Why Don't You Replace Him?': Saiyaara Director Mohit Suri Reveals Music Label Wanted To Fire Arijit Singh From Aashiqui 2 Songs
Mohit Suri, in a podcast, revealed that the music label wanted to fire Arijit Singh from the songs of Aashiqui 2 as the singer refused to sign a contract with them. However, Suri and music director Mithoon stood up for Arijit. The filmmaker said, "Me and Mithoon were like, ‘No way, we’ll take our songs back, you can get other songs, we are not replacing him’.”

Arijit Singh is one of the biggest singers we have in the industry. A film looks incomplete without a romantic song sung by him. But, do you know there was a time when a music label wanted to fire Arijit from the Aashiqui 2 songs? Mohit Suri, who is currently busy with the promotions of his next film Saiyaara, made this big revelation in a podcast with Cyrus Broacha.
He revealed that, as Arijit had refused to sign a contract with the music label, they wanted him to be replaced. Suri said, “I remember, one day, the head of the music label was shouting at me and Mithoon. We’d done Aashiqui, and they wanted Arijit to sign a contract, to hold talent back, to control his talent."

The filmmaker added, "He refused to do it. He was still not big, because the songs hadn’t been released then. He refused to do it, and they were like, ‘Why don’t you replace him?’ Me and Mithoon were like, ‘No way, we’ll take our songs back, you can get other songs, we are not replacing him’.”
Mohit further stated that he doesn't know if Arijit knows this story, but it was Mithoon who stood up for the singer. After Aashiqui 2, Mohit, Mithoon and Arijit worked together in movies like Ek Villain, Half Girlfriend, and Malang, and now, they have also teamed up for Saiyaara.
Saiyaara Release Date
Saiyaara is all set to release on July 18, 2025. The film's pre-release buzz is excellent, and it is all set to take a bumper opening at the box office.

The trailer and songs of Saiyaara has grabbed the attention of the audience. The film's first day collection is expected to be around Rs. 15- 20 crore which will be an excellent opening.
