Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as the 'Kaanta Laga Girl', passed away on Friday night at her residence in Andheri, Mumbai. While initial reports suggested a cardiac arrest, Mumbai Police officials clarified on Saturday morning (June 28) that her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a postmortem, and the exact cause of death remains unknown. The actress, who is survived by her husband Parag Tyagi, had earlier spoken about her plans to adopt a child.

In an earlier interview with Bollywood Life, Shefali shared that Parag could not understand her emotions for a long time. These feelings had developed within her over the years, and since it was a major decision, they both needed to be on the same page.

She shared, "My time in the Bigg Boss 13 house got him thinking about having a family. His folks are very comfortable about it though. I feel my story is nothing short of a fairy-tale. I came from a very simple middle class home. My life took a turn after Kaanta Laga. I feel grateful that I am so comfortable where I am. In my life, I want to give back the love and fortune that has come my way. I want to share my blessings."

Talking about adoption, Shefali had called it a 'brave decision,' especially in the current culture, "'Why don't you have your own kids? It is reserved for those who cannot have their own.’ Parag and I do not come from that space. Adoption is something I wanted to do as I find the thought very beautiful. I was first introduced to it when I was 10 or 12, at a very impressionable age. I have carried it since then," said Jariwala.

She had revealed that there are a lot of laws involved in adopting a child, along with extensive paperwork and counselling. Shefali shared that the COVID lockdown further hampered the process, which already takes years to complete.

"I would like to adopt a baby girl. Boys find homes more easily. I feel a daughter's bond with her parents is something else. I have a beautiful bond with my dad and mum. I want to bring Laxmi home. Any way, boy or girl, the child will find its way to my home and heart," she added.

Shefali was earlier married to musician Harmeet Singh of Meet Brothers from 2004 to 2009. In 2014, she got married to Parag Tyagi.
