‘We Need To Discourage American And English Movies’: When Kangana Ranaut Was Against Hollywood Films

Amid the news of the India-Pakistan war, Kangana Ranaut fans got a surprise that the actress signed a Hollywood film titled Blessed Be The Evil. The movie will also star Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone, and it will be directed by Anurag Rudra. While of course this is a great news that Kangana is heading to the West, there was a time when she was against Hollywood movies.

When Kangana Ranaut Felt Indians Should Discourage Hollywood Films 

In 2021, during the promotions of her movie Thalaivii, at a press conference in Delhi, Kangana had stated that in India people should discourage Hollywood films because they take away our screens. The actress had said, “We need to discourage American and English movies as they are taking over our screens. We need to behave like one nation. We need to stop dividing ourselves like North India or South India. We need to enjoy our own films first, be it Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu or Punjabi.”

When Kangana Stated That Going To West Would Be Stupid 

While in 2021 she spoke about discouraging Hollywood films, in 2017 she had stated that it would be stupid for people to go to the West now. The actress in an interview with Mid-Day had said, “It would be stupid for anyone to make the move to the West now. Their theatre business is crashing because of the influx of digital media. Asia, on the other hand, is where Hollywood was 15 years ago. It is a lucrative time for entertainment here. These are baits that I won’t fall prey to.”

But, it looks like maybe the script of Blessed Be The Evil has surely impressed Kangana that she decided to star in a Hollywood film.

Kangana Ranaut Upcoming Movies

Apart from Blessed Be The Evil, Kangana will next be seen in a Vijay directorial which also stars R Madhavan in the lead role. She also has a movie titled Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata lined up, and there have been reports of Tanu Weds Manu 3 and Queen 2 happening. However, both movies are not yet officially announced.

Meanwhile, the actress was last seen in Emergency in which she played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, which was also directed by Kangana, received positive reviews and her performance in it was appreciated a lot. However, it failed to make a mark at the box office.
