‘We Had Not Taken Things Seriously At That Time’: Konkona Sensharma Remembers Life In A Metro Co-Star Irrfan Khan, Reveals They Did Random Films Together

Konkona Sensharma will next be seen in Metro In Dino, which is a spiritual sequel to the 2007 release Life In A Metro. Late actor Irrfan Khan was seen opposite Konkona in the film. The actress had worked with him in many movies, and recently, during an interview with Mashable India, Konkona shared some unknown facts about Irrfan, and also spoke about her experience of shooting Life In A Metro with him.

Konkona revealed that there was a time when she used to just say yes to some movies because Irrfan was doing it. She also stated that they have done some random films together.

The actress said, “There was a time in the early 2000s when the film industry was slowly waking up to him. At that time, Irrfan and I did a lot of random films. A lot of times, it happened that somebody came to me with a film and said that Irrfan is doing it, so I used to feel that if he is doing it, then it must be decent. There will be something good in it, that’s why Irrfan has said yes. Then we used to meet on set and realise that it is not happening the way we had thought, and I used to say, ‘Bhai sahab aapne haan kiya hai isliye maine haan kiya’. So, he used to say, ‘Arre mujhe kya pata tha? Maine toh aise hie haan keh diya tha’. But we used to enjoy!”

Konkona Sensharma On Shooting Life In A Metro With Irrfan

While talking about her experience of shooting Life In A Metro With Irrfan, Konkona said, “I think shooting Metro (Life In A Metro) was also great fun. He had this ability to incorporate the real surroundings, just take that stimulus. So, once I was doing something (in a scene), and something fell, so after seeing that, even Irrfan dropped something, and then I dropped something. So, it became a fun fight like this, and Anurag loved it. Then there was some issue with that shot, so we had to recreate it, and we again started dropping things. So, it was very nice, spontaneous, improvising, and nothing fake or designed.”

“Even the scene when we were shouting on the rooftop. It wasn’t an impromptu scene, but we were waiting in our van, and Dada (Anurag Basu) called us up and he said, ‘you guys stand here and do it like this’. There was a lot of wind, but we shouted and did the scene as well. We had not taken things seriously at that time, and it turned out so lovely,” she added.

Metro In Dino Release Date

Directed by Anurag Basu, Metro In Dino also stars Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sara Ali Khan. It is slated to release on July 4, 2025.
