Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is all set to essay the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the upcoming film, Chhaava, and he has undergone a massive transformation for the film. Days before the film's release, director Laxman Utekar has revealed how Vicky's arms had gone numb during the shoot of a crucial scene in the film, due to which the shoot had to be suspended.

Utekar told Bollywood Hungama that Vicky had his arms tied up the entire night to shoot the torture sequence in Chhaava, due to which his arms went numb. "When we removed the ropes, his hands refused to come down — they were blocked. We had to take a one-and-a-half-month break, and the set had to be dismantled during that period. We gave him time to recover, rebuilt the set, and resumed shooting afterward," the director said.

Utekar stated that the shoot for the torture sequence coincidentally commenced on the same day as the original date when Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was actually tortured.

During the trailer launch of Chhaava, Vicky had revealed that he underwent a massive physical transformation for the film. "I trained for nearly seven months. I went from 80 kgs to 105 kgs for this role. Whatever I had in me, I gave it all to this film," he had said.

Not just that, but Utekar revealed how Vicky and Akshaye refused to interact with each other throughout the shoot of the film, to be in their characters of arch-enemies.

Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's wife Yesubai Bhonsale, and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

The film is set to hit the silver screens on February 14.
