Fashionista Uorfi Javed said that walking the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival is not an 'achievement' as it is not based on one's merit. A day after Uorfi revealed that she couldn't attend the event as her visa was rejected, the Bigg Boss OTT fame stated that she feels anyone can buy a ticket and attend the film festival

Actress and Bigg Boss OTT fame Uorfi Javed has said that walking the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival is not an 'achievement' as it is not based on one's merit. A day after Uorfi revealed that she couldn't attend the event as her visa was rejected, the fashionista took to her Instagram story and stated that she feels anyone can buy a ticket and attend the film festival.
Uorfi's note read, "Going to Cannes is an opportunity which isn't based on on your merit. Brands buy tickets to the red carpet and give them to influencers/celebrities to represent the brand. Individuals can also buy tickets. Walking the Cannes red carpet is not an achievement, not even for me. It's an opportunity to promote yourself. That's the truth. Here I said it."
"Unless you're film is being premiered at the festival (yeah then it's an achievement), other than that anyone can do it (if you have money or brands are ready to sponsor you)," she added.
Uorfi, known for her bold fashion choices and unapologetic personality, said on May 14 that she was all set to attend Cannes through skincare brand Inde Wild and that she also had some 'crazy' outfit ideas for the red carpet.
Taking to her Instagram account on Wednesday (May 14), which is also the second day of Cannes 2025, Urofi wrote, "I haven't been uploading anything or been seen anywhere cause I was going through a phase. My business didn't work. I tried a bunch of other different things only to face rejections. Got an opportunity to go to Cannes through Inde Wild. (Big big thank you to Diipa Khosla and Kshitij Kankaria) but as the fate would have it my visa got rejected."
She added, "Was working on a few crazy outfit ideas, my team and I were very disheartened."
Despite her disappointment, Uorfi reminded her followers that rejection is a part of life.
Known for her unconventional and creative fashion statements, Uorfi has become a regular topic of discussion on social media. Many fans had even expressed that she should have represented India at the Met Gala 2025, suggesting she would've brought more flair than some of the actual attendees.
Meanwhile, Cannes 2025 kicked off on May 14 with its usual dose of glamour, glitz, and eyebrow-raising fashion moments. From India, actress Urvashi Rautela, Jacqueline Fernandez, Chhaya Kadam and Nitanshi Goel walked the red carpet.
Other Bollywood celebrities who are expected to attend the film festival this year are Simi Grewal, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Karan Tacker, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and others.
