Vijay Raaz starrer Udaipur Files was slated to release on July 11, 2025, but the Delhi High Court had put a stay on the film's release and had ordered the Centre to take a final decision on the certification. On Tuesday, Arshad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, who is one of the petitioners, took to X (Twitter), to reveal that they have filed a petition with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

He tweeted, "On behalf of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a petition has been filed with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ban the screening of the film 'Udaipur Files'. This petition was filed in compliance with a directive from the Delhi High Court, which had imposed a temporary ban on the film's release and advised reconsideration of the certificate issued by the Censor Board."

Madani further wrote, "The petition states that the film is based on hatred, may promote communal tension in society, and could damage the country's image at the international level. The Ministry has been directed to decide on this petition within a week. It is likely that the Ministry may hold a hearing on this petition in the coming days."

What Is The Controversy About the Udaipur Files?

Udaipur Files is based on the murder that took place in Rajasthan on June 28, 2022. Kanhaiya Lal Teli was murdered for allegedly commenting on Prophet Muhammad on social media.
