'Thanks For Paying My Lawyer's Fees': Fan Claims Samay Raina Got Teary-Eyed At Canada Show, Had 'Sunken Face & Unkempt Hair'

Amid the ongoing India's Got Latent row, Samay Raina performed in Canada recently, and a fan has now claimed that the comedian got teary-eyed seeing a packed venue in front of him. The fan shared how Samay also thanked everyone for paying his lawyer's fees by attending his shows.

A fan named Shubham Dutta who attended Samay's show took to his social media handle to reveal what happened before the comedian began with his set. "For the first time, I saw a 25-year-old guy, weighed down by immense mental pressure, dark circles under his eyes, a sunken face, and unkempt hair, walk onto the stage in a dust-covered black hoodie. His first words into the mic? 'Thanks for paying my lawyer's fees'," Dutta wrote.

He went on to say, "For the first time, I saw about seven hundred so-called 'degenerate' generation of today cheering for him, while he stood there, tears in his eyes, just before starting his set."

Dutta also revealed that someone from the crowd questioned Samay about the India's Got Latent controversy, to which the comedian quipped, "Iss show pe bahut mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai."

Within no time, Dutta's post went viral, but soon after, he deleted the post as he also received backlash from some netizens.

What is the India's Got Latent controversy?

For those still unversed, the entire fiasco erupted when Ranveer Allahbadia appeared on Samay Raina's show, India's Got Latent, as a guest. During a segment, he asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

The supposed joke was not received well by netizens, who then bashed Ranveer, Samay and the others related to the show, and demanded strict action against them for "promoting vulgarity and obscenity online".

Deleting the episodes later, Samay had put out a statement that read, "Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you (sic)."

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has filed an FIR against Samay, Ranveer and others, and has also denied Samay's request to record his statement virtually.
