Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra questioned how Adolescence became number 1 on Netflix India, despite praise from the entire film industry, including Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap, and Alia Bhatt. On X, he wrote, "Indians are not supposed to like slow burners," sparking debate. Some users agreed, calling it slow, while others disagreed with his perspective.

While the entire film industry, including Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap, Alia Bhatt, among others, has praised the Netflix show Adolescence, filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has a different perspective. On Tuesday, the director of Serious Men questioned how the series had become number 1 on Netflix India. He asked the Indian audiences for their appreciation of the show.
Taking to his X (Twitter) handle, Mishra wrote, "How come Adolescence is the No 1 show on Netflix India . All conventional wisdom is against it. Indians are not supposed to like slow burners. It violates every rule of taught by bad scriptwriting schools. It spirals down instead of soaring up. It’s the best news in years."
