Pakistani Actress Humaira Asghar Dies At 32, Body Found In Decomposed State 2 Weeks After Death In Karachi Apartment

The body of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found in a flat in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase-VI on Tuesday (July 8), police confirmed. According to media reports, police officials have stated that the 32-year-old had likely passed away nearly two weeks before the discovery.

South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza told Pakistani news portal Images that the body was recovered from an apartment in the Ittehad Commercial area. The Gizri police had arrived at the residence around 3:15 pm on the orders of a local court, following a request from the landlord to have the apartment vacated due to unpaid rent.

Humaira's body found in 'advanced decomposed' state

When there was no response at the door, officers forcibly entered and found Humaira's decomposed body inside. The apartment had been locked from the inside, including the balcony door, suggesting no immediate signs of foul play.

The report further stated that the Crime Scene Unit was called in to collect forensic evidence, and the body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal and medical procedures. Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed confirmed the advanced state of decomposition and stated that the cause of death remains reserved. Further investigations are currently underway.

Investigation underway

Reports have also stated that the actress had been living alone in the rented apartment and had stopped paying rent earlier this year. The landlord approached the court for eviction after being unable to contact her.

While preliminary investigations suggest that the death may not have been a homicide, police say they are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause. Authorities are also working to trace Humaira's relatives through her mobile phone records.

Humaira had appeared in ARY's reality show Tamasha Ghar. She also starred in the 2015 film Jalaibee.

According to her Instagram bio, Humaira was a theatre, television and film actress as well as a model. She was also a painter and sculptor. Humaira had also described herself as a health and fitness freak. She has over 713K followers on the social media platform.

She was not active on Instagram. On September 30, 2024, she had shared her last post, which featured several candid pictures.
